About Kamwangi Coffee Factory

The Kamwangi Coffee Factory is operated by the New Ngariama Coffee Farmers' Cooperative Society in Kenya's renowned Kirinyaga region. Approximately 1,800 smallholder producers cultivate coffee on the fertile volcanic slopes of Mount Kenya, where high elevations and cool temperatures contribute to slow cherry maturation and exceptional cup quality.

After harvest, ripe cherries are hand-sorted before undergoing Kenya's traditional double-soak washed process. Following fermentation and washing, the parchment is soaked a second time to enhance clarity before being dried on raised African beds for 9 to 13 days. The cooperative is Rainforest Alliance Certified and supports sustainable production through responsible wastewater management and the recycling of coffee pulp into organic fertilizer.
