My name is Eric Laughlin, and I’m on staff with Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). The mission of FCA is to lead EVERY coach and athlete into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church. I have focused that down into the wrestling community of Lynchburg. I want to serve each high/middle school wrestler and coach by helping them get better at wrestling and develop relationships with God.
Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) is an organization that has been combining the passions of faith in Jesus Christ with sports for more than sixty years. FCA recognizes that coaches and athletes are influencers of people, countries, and cultures all over the world. Due to this it is FCA’s mission to lead EVERY coach and athlete into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church. This is accomplished by relying on full-time staff and volunteers to enter every athletic circle imaginable in order to engage, equip, and empower athletes and coaches of every sport.
As an FCA representative in Lynchburg, I oversee the engagement of the wrestling community. This has started at the high/middle school level and will hopefully extend to youth programs, clubs, and even women’s wrestling. I engage as many wrestling teams with two intentions: helping teams get better at wrestling and proclaiming the glory of God to those teams. This involves me going to practices to help wrestlers hone their skills and share the Gospel whenever possible. Through these connections I develop discipleship relationships that lead to every deepening relationships with Jesus. It is my desire to provide these coaches not only with every opportunity to meet with God, but to grow in the sport of wrestling. During the summer, FCA provides a tournament, camp, and overseas mission trip to grow wrestlers physically and spiritually. Pray that God will be glorified in the wrestling community of Lynchburg.
In addition to wrestling, I have some “side hustles” in FCA which include the jiu-jitsu and fitness communities. Please pray that Jesus touches those who are hurting and needy in these communities.
I am funded completely by organizations and individuals who believe in the mission of FCA and the way that God has equipped me to complete the task set before me. I love what I do and I am thrilled that I get to combine my passions of wrestling and Jesus to serve my community. However, this is a work initiated and sustained by God, and I need people like YOU praying for what God is up to in Lynchburg.
