About This Coffee

Grown by over 1,900 smallholder farmers in the highlands of Gatara Commune, this washed Red Bourbon lot was processed at Gakenke Washing Station—one of Burundi’s most established mills. The altitude of 1,672 meters and careful post-harvest handling contribute to the coffee’s clean structure and vibrant character.

Medium roast with notes of blackberry, cola, and cherry. The profile is layered yet balanced, with gentle malic acidity and a smooth finish. This is a standout Burundi that offers both depth and everyday approachability.

Steps:

1. Invert Aeropress and ensure a good seal.

2. Wet the filter to remove paper taste.

3. Weigh 16g of coffee and grind on a medium setting.

4. Add coffee to Aeropress on scale.

5. Start timer and pour 170g water quickly.

6. Stir 3 times to incorporate grounds.

7. At 2 minutes, stir 3 more times.

8. Attach filter cap, flip onto mug, and press for 30 seconds.
